International days are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool.
This year’s International Day for the Older Persons under the theme, “Pandemics: Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing?” was cerebrated on the 1st October. SEC gather a total of 100 elderly persons in Nakabugo village, Biira parish, Biira sub county, Wakiso district.
On the international day of older persons, over 100 persons were brough together to meet with their colleagues and catch up, on this day the friends of SEC mobilized some resources with which a cake was prepared and cut as a way of cerebrating this special day. On addition to this a decent meal was served to all the 100 older persons who turned up for the cerebrations.
